How I Scored in the 95th+ Percentile on Step 2 CK- Study Schedule

As promised, here is my study schedule! Please use this as a resource to help guide your studying. For reference, I scored a 269!

Resources

  • Unlike Step 1, I used one main resource, Uworld.
    • You need to master Uworld to do well on Step 2.
    • I completed the corresponding Uworld questions throughout my third-year clerkships then repeated them during dedicated.
    • I spent most of my dedicated period going through questions and reviewing them I did them on random and timed mode.
    • I took notes on a Word document and made Anki cards on questions I got wrong.
  • Online Med Ed (OME)
    • A great supplemental resource. I didn’t review all the videos, only ones on topics I felt weak in. I watched videos on 2x speed while taking notes in the Quick Tables book I purchased for $25.
  • Zanki Step 2
    • I should have been more diligent about completing my reviews. I honestly just used this when I could fit it in. Maybe 1-2 hours a day during dedicated.
  • UptoDate
    • I highly recommended this for looking up the most current treatment regimens and management algorithms.
  • Practice Exams
    • I completed all the NBMEs (Forms 6-8) and Uworld Self Assessments (UWSA 1-2).
    • NBMEs are notorious for underpredicting but are a great learning tool (I completed these first). I then did the two UWSAs. Lastly, I completed the free 120 questions from the NBME, which I thought were the most similar to the actual exam.

Overview of daily dedicated schedule

  • 8am-11am: Uworld questions, 40 questions x 3 blocks
  • 11am-2pm: Reviewed completed Uworld blocks
  • 2pm-3pm: Break- lunch
  • 3-4pm: Finished reviewing Uworld
  • 4-5pm: OME
  • 5pm-8pm: Break- workout and dinner
  • 8pm-10pm: 1 more block of Uworld (the last week of studying, I decided to do all four blocks in the morning when I was most awake)
